Father John Christianson

Father John was born in Redwood City, the son of Gladys and Llewellyn Christianson, and raised in the Lutheran faith. After graduating from Homestead High, he attended Colorado State University in Ft Collins, CO, to study forestry. From there, he began a 40 year career as an arborist, and owner of Christianson Tree Experts Co, in the Santa Cruz/San Jose area.  Father John married Barbara Huntington of San Francisco in 1973. They have seven children: Tia, William, Hugh, Ned, Helen, †Jonathan and †Michael; and a grandson, Logan. In 1983, the Christianson family converted to Holy Orthodoxy and that same year, Father John was ordained to the diaconate by Metropolitan JOSEPH.
As Deacon John, he served at Ss Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Ben Lomond CA. In 2007.  At age 56 he entered St Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA, preparatory to ordination to the priesthood. He was graduated with a MDiv in 2009 and ordained a priest in 2010. He was assigned as priest of St Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Wasilla AK, and then in June 2012, came to St Timothy to be our pastor.  Father John and Khouria Barbara (who recently retired after 20 years as a pediatric ICU nurse) now live in Fairfield. Father John remains a practicing arborist, 1-2 days a week. He is also an avid cyclist and an adrenaline junkie!


Father Andrew Andrews

IMG 0378Father Andrew was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and grew up as a member of St. Nicholas Cathedral. He is the first of four children of Robert and Adrianne Andrews and has two brothers and one sister. Fr. Andrew married Ruth Elia Davis in 1987 and they have one son, Nicholas Peter. Fr. Andrew, Ruth and Nick have been residents of Walnut Creek, CA since 1990. Fr. Andrew received his BA degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Agricultural Business Management with a minor in Information Services. He also has a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of California, San Francisco and completed the St. Stephen’s Course of Study receiving a Certificate in Applied Orthodox Theology from the Antiochian House of Studies. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate at the hands of Metropolitan JOSEPH on July 3, 2005 in San Francisco, CA.  After serving nineteen years as a deacon he was ordained to the Holy Priesthood at the hands of Metropolitan JOSEPH on December 8, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA.

Father Andrew has served many roles in his lifetime in the Orthodox Church including Teen SOYO President, Director of Camp St. Nicholas and Camp St John summer programs; was the founding Charmian of the Archdiocese Department of Communication and Information; and was registration chairman for two parish life conferences. Fr. Andrew is proficient in Byzantine chant and has served as both chanter and chant instructor in several parishes. He is a former Board of Directors member of the St. Herman Orthodox Theological School in Kodiak, AK as well as Project Mexico and the St. Innocent Orphanage.  Fr. Andrew is a life member in the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch.  

In his secular career, Fr. Andrew works as the Director of Information Services for Acute Care Hospitals at Sutter Health with responsibility for 15 Sutter hospitals in the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley. He previously held a similar role for Sutter’s medical foundation offices. Prior to this, Fr. Andrew served as director of Applied Professional Services for an information technology consulting firm specializing in large scale system implementations, business process improvement, and technology / process integration.
